Monsters University Premiere Day!

It's opening night and we couldn't be more excited! We held a big pep rally last night, just to get fired up for the big game.

It's become a tradition for Good Day Sacramento's Mark S. Allen to stop by Pixar each Summer during premiere time.

This year, MU story supervisor Kelsey Mann taught Mark how to draw Mike Wazowski.

I did a little drawing lesson of my own...

Turning Mark into his very own MU character!

I think this kid works for the school newspaper.

All in all, it was a great start to opening day!

I can't say I've ever looked forward to summer school as much as today.

GO MU!

The Loki Pokey

I thought I'd start this Thor's Day morning with a little chaos.

This was a doodle I did during a particularly chaotic production meeting where I thought a little Loki was setting in. I "borrowed" the sweet action-lined backdrop from Differentbeans.99k.org.

Mandalorian

I've had Mandalorians on the mind recently.

This dude is the love-child of Boba Fett, biker scout armor, and the derelicte fashion sense of Jabba's denizens...three of my favorite design schemes of the Star Wars universe.

He would totally eff your Jedi sh*t up.

Happy Father's Day!

To my monstrously great Dad from his monstrously proud Grad!

I come from an artistic family, so my first artistic heroes and mentors growing up were my father, Michael, and my brother, Andrew.

One of the highlights of my career is sharing the films that I work on with my family, they're always my target audience. Which is good, because family is always obligated to tell you they're proud of your work. It's a win-win!

Supe du Jour VII: Family Crest

Last week, Slashfilm posted this handy infographic describing the history of Superman's emblem.

Naturally, this made me want to design my own:

What does your Super sigil look like?

Supe du Jour IV: Ceyeborg Superman

Has anyone seen the design of the new Cyborg Superman? Personally, I don't think they went far enough. Here's my take on The Man of Mostly Steel:

Supe du Jour II: The Man of Twomorrow

Day two of my Superman sketch-a-day was a no-brainer: Two-Face. My Harvey Dent will always be Billy Dee Williams.

I'm kind of surprised nobody's done this gettup for ol' Dent Head.

Supe du Jour I: Three Point Stance

With just over a week before Man of Steel comes out, I think it's time to do a Superman sketch-a-day countdown, or "Supe du Jour."

A lot of people give superheroes grief for constantly landing in a three-point stance. To them, I say you try plummeting from the sky at supersonic speeds and landing on two feet!

Sephilina

A fellow Pixarian story artist, Jamie Baker, had a stroke late last year and we're hosting an art auction to raise money for Jamie's recovery. The auction is Jamie-themed, so my piece includes two of his most beloved art subjects: pachyderms and his own character, Sephilina the Nautigirl.

You can also help Jamie by donating here. Thanks!

How Does He Shave? (Theory II)

How does Superman shave? The "active volcano" theory:

Pro: it gives Clark Kent an excuse to visit Hawaii every morning.
Con: he has to draw on his eyebrows.
